You go to Cracker Barrel for a nice Sunday afternoon dinner, and your 2 and 4 year old sons refuse to go into the restaurant because they are distracted by the toy displays. Not my kids! You get the 4 year old to put a toy down, and you try to pry the toy out of the 2 year old's hands... and by the time you've got the toy pried out of his hands, the 4 yr old has picked another one up. And somehow, you stand there for 5 minutes or so trying to make your way into the restaurant.
But, once you get into the restaurant, with the toys that you couldn't pry out of your 2 yr olds hand (lol!)- he decides that he needs to play with the toy on the floor of the restaurant. Nothing you do or say can get him to play on the table. Nope! In fact, sometime after the food has been served, and you've picked him up off the floor too many times to count, you look over, and to your utter dismay- he is laying across the entrance into the restaurant from the store... so nobody can get in or go out. Oh, yes... others stand there with a smile on their face, but not me. Haha- so (not) funny!
But, at least, the toy somehow manages to keep it's label & wrapping on. And you non-chalantly place it back in the bin like it has never been played with. Oh, no- you would never allow your child to play with something for an hour or so, and then put it back on the shelf. Not me or my kids!
Once in a while I suppose there are other normal things that my children do, too. Like blow bubbles out of their nose when it's running and laugh at themselves!?! Or, ask for "tick-tocks" (tic-tacs) every time we go to church, then spit them out because they're too "hot". :) Or, run out of the bathroom naked with play shaving cream all over their face... the same kid who asked a few minutes before for some privacy (does he even know what that word means? lol). Or says "We don't say that!" 10+ times to the TV when something comes on we've told him not to say... and then, the 11th(?) time he hears it- he says 'it' with a huge smile on his face. ;p
I'm sure there's more, because every day with the Harrigan clan is an adventure. Anytime we're around others, they seem to find something one of the kids say or do funny. And that is why I try to write this little blog post every Monday. Just to remember all the funny things that we say or do. I got the idea for "Not Me" from this blog. I love reading her "Not Me's", and others that post theirs, too. You should check out her blog sometime. You'll enjoy it, I think.
