It was fun listening to him ask goofy questions, like:
-Where are the "spokes" (beaters) for this thing (the mixer)?
-How do you get a teaspoon of egg?
-Is this a graham cracker crust (a refrigerated pie crust)?
-How do you work this "doo-hickey" (apple peeler-corer-slicer)?
-Well, aren't we just a regular infomercial (for the apple p-c-s)?!
Yes, dear hubby... we're a regular infomercial. Lol! He does keep me laughing... and that I love about him. And you know I won't post this without pictures (thanks to my mom's camera) and the recipe, right?!!
So here ya go!
Using the "doo-hickey", apple peeler-corer-slicer!
Love that thing by the way!
Practicing his "Top Chef" skills, timing it out! :)
The finished product (minus the whipped topping and drizzled caramel that he put on right before we left).
And, in case you don't already have this recipe in your box... here it is:
Apple Caramel Pie:
Ingredients:
1 Graham Cracker Crust
1 jar caramel sauce
5 granny smith apples (peeled, cored, sliced)
1/2 c brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
5 Tbsp butter
8 oz. cream cheese
1 tsp vanilla
1 large egg
1/4 c sugar
Whipped cream or Cool Whip
Preparation:
Pour 3/4 c caramel into bottom of crust.
Melt butter in skillet; add sugar & apples. Cook for 15-20 minutes until soft. Pour into pie shell.
Mix cream cheese & sugar for 1 minute, then add egg & vanilla- beat until well blended. Pour over apple mixture.
Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool for 4 hours.
Put Whipped cream or Cool Whip on top, and drizzle with remaining caramel.
**Optional**: Add pecans to bottom of crust, and to the topping.
Enjoy!!
Blessings! -Sarah

You had me at, "Hello", with the name of this pie! Yum. Such a cute post too seeing your hubby make it.
Never in all my life have I come across a recipe for a tsp of egg??? Where did he get that idea from?
